Denny is a seventeen-year-old teen who has eventually decided that he needs to go and see his healthcare professional about his careless and abusive drinking. At first, Denny thought he would be able to simply go on the world wide web, look for some straightforward alcohol info and come to a decision whether or not he was alcohol dependent.

Not unexpectedly, he found scores of websites that detailed some of the usual alcoholism symptoms. That’s the encouraging news. The less positive news, unfortunately, was that Denny presented more than a few of these alcoholism symptoms.

Examples of Alcohol Dependency Symptoms

As an illustration, Denny has been drinking increasingly more than customary and he has started to have more heated spats with the female he is dating. Furthermore, for the first time in his young life he has been going through sleeping difficulties. In a similar way, Denny time and again has felt depressed and on an increasing basis he has been demonstrating limited attention to detail while at school. What is more, he has felt stressed out and more anxious on a day-to-day basis and for the past four or five months he has exhibited murky thinking at school. Seeing as Denny has been manifesting all of these symptoms, he was excusably worried about his abusive and careless drinking.

So Denny finally determined that he needed to place a phone call to his family physician and make an appointment. As it happens, this was rough for Denny because his healthcare practitioner was also his parents’ family doctor. The origin of his uneasiness was this: at the risk of embarrassing his family, he had to go and make known his unhealthy and abusive drinking behavior to his healthcare practitioner.

When Denny arrived at the healthcare professional’s office, he frankly told the healthcare practitioner about the apprehension he feels about his hazardous drinking behavior. When the healthcare practitioner asked what was bringing about this trepidation, Denny affirmed that he had gone online and read about alcohol addiction and especially about alcoholism symptoms. He then articulated all of the alcohol addiction symptoms that he obviously thought he exhibits.

A Comprehensive Physical Assessment and Outpatient Alcohol Rehabilitation

The family doctor informed Denny that it was intelligent of him to concentrate on his drinking difficulties, he gave Denny a thorough physical exam, and recommended that he talk to his Mother and Father about registering in an out-patient alcohol rehab center that was run by Doctor Patterson, one of his doctor colleagues who is an alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse specialist.

Moreover, when Denny stated that he has been feeling a sense of gloom to a greater extent, the family healthcare practitioner told Denny that depression and alcoholism many times come about in the same individual. Hence, the family healthcare practitioner also recommended that Denny talk to his Mom and Dad about seeking therapy to concentrate on his sense of gloom. In fact, Denny can go to the local mental health center and make an appointment with Doctor Gardner, an eminent clinical psychologist who specializes in treating adolescents.

The Value of Coming To Grips With Your Drinking Problems and Getting Motivated About Making Healthy and Positive Changes in Your Life

The family doctor made it a point to notify Denny that he might not necessarily be dependent on alcohol, but that he was plainly drinking in an excessive manner. Stated another way, Denny was involving himself in teen alcohol abuse. The family physician then told Denny that the reason he suggested alcohol treatment in the first place was because he wanted him to face his drinking difficulties, make sure that he prevented them from escalating, and start to live in a more healthy manner, even if it meant that he had to entirely quit drinking.

In a few words, by effectively treating his drinking difficulties, Denny would be able to get his drinking issues under control and abstain from the negative sequence of events that could in all probability result in alcoholism.

Denny justifiably did not look forward to facing his Mother and Father about his drinking issues and his depression. And he definitely did not want to face the thought of enrolling in an alcohol rehabilitation program. And last of all, he was not overjoyed about going to a counselor about his sense of gloom. In spite of these apprehensions, however, Denny actually experienced some emotional relief for the first time in quite a few months because he ultimately quit making excuses for himself and at long last made up his mind to do something constructive about his careless drinking.
