More people today have higher levels of cholesterol than ever before in these changing times. Here we are talking about bad cholesterol. This is creating a serious health problem that is afflicting a great many people. It isn’t nuclear physics as to why. A major part of the cause is that folks today are eating way too much food that is already high in bad cholesterol. Since this is the situation there should be very simple natural ways to lower cholesterol. Why not try them before turning to drug based options.

Three Simple Ways to Lower Bad Cholesterol

First, change your diet. Ouch, that hurts. Even though you’ve heard it before and you’ll hear it again remember that it is certainly easier than dealing with heart disease. So here it is again:

a) Beans, vegetables, whole grains and fruits. The key here is soluble fiber because it helps reduce bad (LDL) cholesterol.

b) Because tissue of animals is loaded with cholesterol it is best to avoid eating animal foods. Animals have livers and livers produce cholesterol.

c) At a minimum of 3 times a week eat fish high in Omega 3 fatty acids or at least take an equivalent supplement.

d) Take red rice yeast supplements every day.

Second, sorry but it is the truth, get some exercise. The chances of benefiting from the natural ways to lower cholesterol aren’t that high without some exercise. Not only our metabolism but the way we eat is profoundly affected by both our body weight and lifestyle.

Third, worthy of its own step, this is an easy one and really part of step one. There are some excellent dietary supplements when it comes to natural ways to lower cholesterol and as part of your daily routine they should be taken everyday. Understanding it may require a number of months to see the results your patience should be well worth it. As mentioned above, two excellent supplements are fish oil and red rice yeast.

Is it that simple? Yes. Really it’s up to you. Albeit there is nothing mystical about it, it is possible to control bad cholesterol without medications. A little effort, determination and some time will do the trick though.

A Warning

If you are taking other medications make sure that you consult with your doctor before changing what you are doing. A different plan of action may be suggested by he or she than what is proposed here. Again these are three natural ways to lower cholesterol when done together and they have the additional benefits of increasing your general happiness and health.
